Pippa Greathouse, and Ms. The town of Golden River in California is dying, a mining town with only men. The only female is widow Faith Bartlett who has a ranch outside of town until she brings her niece west. Then the men of the town will pull together to bring mail-order brides—and let the women do the choosing of husbands. This will be the story of deputy Caleb Matthews and Daniella Abcott. The plot will have more brides arriving in town, and that will leave some of the first ones a little unsettled, especially when the new ones start making advances on men like Caleb and Noah.
1. Look in Places Where Gold has been found before
While nothing has been finalized, Jeddah has her heart set on the town minister, Noah, and Daniella on the deputy, Caleb. Throw in several misunderstandings, mixed signals, and hasty decisions, and you have plenty of angst, a bit of anger, and feelings of deceit. Caleb is shocked to see her, and does what he thinks is best to keep her safe, but leads to confusion.
He is in love with her, but wants things in his timing and not forced by her. Words said in anger and walking away will have Daniella running away and the pursuit begins. The story will include what all Daniella will do as she tries to find work and where she is hiding and will have Caleb trying to find his wife and make things right.
Oh, more misunderstandings will lead to another merry chase and trying to keep her safe along the way. Add to the mix men from town, the new brides staying in town, whores from the brothel and a cat-fight. Why does everyone want to jump to conclusions and assume the worse?
Like you. There is plenty of antics to keep the pages turning, and the newcomers will never allow for a dull moment. I look forward to the next book in this series. While marriages will take place, the sex is not overly explicit. It is more the journey along the way—oh, and of course, with naughty, disobedient girls; there will be some spankings— well-deserved spankings! Apr 09, Lalaland rated it really liked it. This is the second book in this series by these two writers, I had not read the first book and I still might or might not.
It was quite entertaining but muddled. Daniella is in love with the deputy sheriff, she is one of a group of mail order brides who have been brought in by the townsmen to revive the failing mining town which is in the doldrums because the mines have run dry. The Deputy, Caleb is also in love with Daniella but will not be pressured into jumping into immediate marriage and is This is the second book in this series by these two writers, I had not read the first book and I still might or might not.
The Deputy, Caleb is also in love with Daniella but will not be pressured into jumping into immediate marriage and is feeling pressured by everyone around him. Daniella starts to have doubts about Caleb's feelings towards her when a new crop of mail order brides arrives and make her feel inadequate. Caleb decides to leave town for a while to gives things a chance to cool down and to give the townspeople something else to gossip about and he tells Daniella that he will marry her when he is ready but she misunderstands and follows him thinking he is telling her to meet him in Sacramento.
From then on the story turns into an amusing farce of misconceptions and confused thinking with both partners jumping to conclusions, generally the wrong ones, with Daniella running away and Caleb chasing her - it is quite amusing but irritating at times, ie how can these people be so stupid? All in all it was a quick entertaining light read, not too bad really. It is supposed to be a standalone but I really think you would know what's going on and know some of the characters if you read the first book.
Apr 15, Marcella rated it it was amazing. Spoilers: I enjoyed this story very much. Daniella is one of the Brides that the town of Golden River provided funds for them to travel from their homes to become brides for the male dominated population.
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland -- Chapter I
Daniella set her sites right away on Caleb, the town's Deputy. And Caleb seems to be smitten with her as well, but he is in no hurry to marry. When another group of potential brides arrive, Daniella becomes worried that Caleb will abandon her for one of the new ladies. She then begins to pressur Spoilers: I enjoyed this story very much. She then begins to pressure Caleb, along with most of the townspeople, suggesting it high time he wed the petite woman.
But Caleb refuses to be pressured into marrying sooner than he is ready to do so. He leaves town to transport a prisoner to another town, and Daniella jumps to conclusions, thinking that he also meant for her to join him in the town so they can marry. This is where her immaturity and insecurity manifest. She believes he must want her to follow him, and he is furious that she did. From then on, she does a very bad job of communicating honestly with Caleb, which leads to her being caught in many situations that never had to happen.
It is her immaturity and the hiding of her true thoughts that leads to all the misery she finds herself enduring. It is this part of the story that has a lot of intrigue, and frustration for the reader who knows she need only be honest with Caleb to solve her problems. It is the honorable Caleb who finally makes everything right. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Apr 06, Donna Louise rated it really liked it. Donna L 4. I love a good western romance and was not disappointed by the duo of Pippa Greathouse and Ruby Caine. This is the story of Daniella and Caleb and Daniella's quest to get Caleb to marry her. Caleb loves Daniella but will not be manipulated by the imp he is in love with. When ten more women arrive in the town looking for husbands Daniella is more determined than ever to marry Caleb. Her desperation sees her follow Caleb to Sacramento and it's here that the fun really starts.
Its now a game of catch me if you can with Daniella hiding out in the last place Caleb would ever expect. Will Caleb finally find Daniella or will she continue to outsmart him.
logoshirtshoppingmall.com/line-location-for-cell.php The story has strong sexy cowboys,a sneaky young lady who is good at disguising herself and leading her man on merry chase across the country and a HEA. This book was refreshingly entertaining and the authors did a great job at making the presence of each character known in their own quirky way. Apr 07, Rjr rated it really liked it. Daniella, ever the daring girl, decides to just go for it and win Caleb as soon as possible. This leads to a series of misadventures, misfortunes, and hurt feelings for both parties. In the end, their troubles effect most of the town and even people outside of it. As was the case with the first book, this is a well-written story.
